Bronzeberry

This big fruit tree grows up to 38 feet (11.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 43 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, ridged, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the flexible wood is light brown.

The branches are short stubs and are covered with copious amounts of large, very thick leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are grey with aquamarine tips.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of giant, light grey blossoms with many layers of petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are hardy and have an overpowering scent that smells like mango.

In mid-summer it produces , long, narrow fruit. The soft silver skin is tough and spicy and savoury, and the crunchy bronze flesh is sweet and sour and powdery. The lime seed is small and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.
