When mature, the end of the stem eventually transforms into a giant, bright blue flower.
During the mid-summer, it produces excessive amounts of pollen,but it does not cause many allergic reactions, and after flowering, it is left with copious amounts of giant grains.
It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
