Crimson Glow

This average-sized flower grows up to 1.2 feet (36 cm) tall. Its silver or lime stem is very thick, and the huge, red leaves are sickle shaped with tattered edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

A single large flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 29 cm (11.4 inches) wide, with solid gentle green petals decorated with blue lines and a crimson central disk. The flower head is shaped like a dish made up of 20 tightly layered, round-tipped petals. They are hardy.

It has a weak scent that smells like wet dog, and it has a modest amount of pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.
