Silverbell

This big flower grows up to 2.3 feet (71 cm) tall. Its silver or lime stem is very thick, and the tiny, yellow-green leaves are light white on the underside and are long, narrow with smooth edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and a pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

Each stem splits 6 to 9 times; a single tiny flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 25 cm (9.8 inches) wide, with solid gentle purple petals and a vivid red central disk. The flower head is made up of several petals in raised layers. They are hardy.

It has an intensely strong scent that smells like vanilla, and it has excessive amounts of pollen,but it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.
