Blueberry

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 200 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several knobbly, wavy stems covered in smooth, dark brown bark, and the wood inside is white.

The branches trail down towards the ground with thousands of twigs that and are covered with thick bunches of huge, finger-like, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are drab blue and peach, flexible and crispy.

In late summer it produces several medium-sized, grey blossoms with finger-like petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have an intense scent that smells like glue.

In late winter small cuboid fruits ripen. The sticky gentle green skin is stretchy and inedible, and the slightly crunchy crimson flesh is sweet and juicy. The brilliant green seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.
