Brown Moss

This brown moss is commonly found growing in large clumps On rotten logs.
It is modest-sized, growing up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall. It forms in small clumps and they are exceptionally hardy, and is overwhelmingly light.
When mature, emerald shield-shaped capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-autumn to release hundred of spores.
