Embercrest Moss

This orange-yellow or indigo moss is commonly found blanketing small areas In heathlands.
It is big, growing up to 9 inches (23 cm) tall. It forms in small clumps, and is slightly hardy; it can easily endure flooding and draughts.
When mature, emerald crescent-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early autumn to release thousands of spores; it does not cause any allergic reactions.
