Conifruit Tree

This big fruit tree grows up to 44 feet (13.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 70 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a slender, straight trunk covered in delicate, rough, dark gray bark, and inside, the dense wood is white with black speckles.

The tangled mess of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with thick bunches of small, fan-like leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are yellow-green with vivid yellow tips.

In early spring, it produces dozens of giant, aquamarine blossoms with many layers of petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a delicate scent that smells like rotten meat.

In early autumn it produces , oval fruit. The rough yellow skin is tough and edible when roasted; it is bland, and the crunchy magenta flesh is spicy and sour and oily. The green seed is small and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
