Shadowveil Moss

This black and silver moss is commonly found blanketing small areas In moorlands, and On trees.
It is modest-sized, growing up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. It forms in sparse patches and they are slow to spread and grow, and is extremely frail; it takes a lot of damage when trodden on.
When mature, emerald crescent-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late summer to release thousands of spores; it can cause allergic reactions.
