Clinging Hazelvine

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This small fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 51 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in silky, light brown bark, and inside, the very light wood is burgundy-brown.

The branches are long and thin and are covered with small bunches of giant, needle-like leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are either grey or subtle blue, with azure streaks.

In early spring, it produces lots of tiny, hazel blossoms with shield-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like onion.

In late summer it produces , long, narrow fruit. The smooth magenta skin is thin and edible when boiled; it is sour, and the slightly crunchy silver flesh is bitter and sour and dry. The vivid yellow seed is tiny and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
