Succulent Sunflower
Flower type: Annual (Stores water in its leaves)This short flower grows up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. Its yellow stem is thick, and the large, silver leaves are light moss green on the underside and are slender, pointed with jagged edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.
4 to 6 giant flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 12 cm (4.7 inches) wide, with alternating petals of washed-out green and slate, with an olive central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 44 curved petals. They are very delicate.
It has a weak scent that smells like soap, and it has very little pollen, but can cause severe allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.
The sap is subtle orange.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
