Twisted Azurefruit

This short fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 16 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, twisting trunk covered in fine, smooth, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the light wood is yellow.

The branches are long and thin and are covered with large amounts of small, perforated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are generally azure.

In early spring, it produces lots of large, white blossoms with pleated petals. They are hardy and have a weak scent that smells like mint.

In mid-autumn it produces , long, narrow fruit. The rough drab blue skin is stretchy and sweet, and the crunchy dark grey flesh is bitter and sticky. The bronze seed is tiny and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
