Copper Petal Garlic Flower

Flower type: Annual (Stores water in its stem)

This massive flower grows up to 10.4 feet (3.2 meters) tall. Its yellow stem is thick, and the small, silver leaves are thin with irregular edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

3 to 5 large flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 149 cm (58.7 inches) wide, with each petal a slightly different shade of copper. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 45 curved petals. They detach easily.

It has a strong scent that smells like garlic, and it has very little pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also visited by a variety of insects.
