Crimson Spine Succulent

This large caudiciform grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall. The pleated stem is silver, and is covered in thick bunches of flexible crimson spines. The angular, red trunk can grow to as much as 13 feet (4.0 meters) in diameter at the top. Its gray-green branches are short and thin and start growing halfway up the stem.

The handfuls of irregular-edged, thick leaves are either purple or silver, with white dots. They are resistant, and take some effort to detach.

It is steady-growing, taking 23 months to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with petals that are hazel at the sides and purple at the center grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of 48 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight star. It has a faint scent that smells like coconut.

The caudiciform's skin is thick, the black flesh is sticky, and the light grey sap is thin.
