Clinging Citrus

This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 34 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in very thick, ridged, brown and grey bark, and inside, the hard wood is gray.

The branches are very short and thin and are covered with very large amounts of large, very thin leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are cream and red.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of medium-sized, cream blossoms with 3 pointed petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have a powerful scent that smells like citrus.

In early winter it produces , long, tapering fruit. The waxy orange skin is tough and inedible, and the very soft ashy orange flesh is sweet and powdery. The black seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.
