Conipecan

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 39 years. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several narrow, twisting stems covered in hard, silky, dark green bark, and the wood inside is black with white speckles.

The branches are very short, thin and wispy with dozens of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of tiny, thick, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are cream and cyan, frail and leathery.

In late spring it produces copious amounts of large, grey blossoms with oblong petals. They detach easily and have a delicate scent that smells like chocolate.

In late winter circular fruits ripen. The fuzzy green skin is peel-able and overwhelmingly bitter, and the very soft peach flesh is sweet and spicy and powdery. The silver seed is small and sits at the end of the fruit.
