Aquaflame Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This colossal fruit tree grows up to 74 feet (22.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 48 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a stocky, straight trunk covered in thick, waxy, burgundy bark, and inside, the hard wood is silver.

The small bunches of branches are very long and thick and are covered with copious amounts of giant, perforated leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are found in subtle red, turquoise and drab yellow varieties.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of small, light brown blossoms with oblong petals. They are sturdy and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like rotting meat.

In mid-autumn it produces small, broad, flat fruit. The smooth slate skin is tough and edible when boiled; it is sweet, and the slightly crunchy peach flesh is bitter and very dry. The bronze seed is large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
