Emerald Capsule Moss

This brown moss is commonly found blanketing giant areas On rotten logs.
It is small, growing up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches and they spread and grow quickly, and is extremely durable.
When mature, emerald kidney-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early summer to release hundred of spores.
