Crimson Vine

Climbing plant type: Bine (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This average-sized bine is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 36 feet (11.0 meters) and growing as high as 455 feet (138.7 meters). It prefers to grow on trees.

It takes 13 months for the moss green stems to mature, by which point they sometimes have a diameter of 3 inches (8 cm) and are soft and flexible.

The slender, pointed, smooth leaves reach up to 7 inches (18 cm) in length. They are brilliant orange and peach, and have wavy edges.

During late spring, the bine produces handfuls of giant crimson flowers.

It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
