Clinging Pine

Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This modest-sized tree grows up to 20 meters (65.6 feet) tall and lives for over 2,000 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 2572 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, angular trunk covered in hard, wrinkled, black bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is white.

The small bunches of branches are very short and slender, with hundreds of twigs covered with handfuls of miniature, yellow-green needles. The needles themselves are delicate.

In late summer it produces giant, black, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
