Trailing Blueberry Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This short fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 53 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.
It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in rough, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the soft wood is black.
The branches trail down to the ground and are covered with handfuls of tiny, long, narrow leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are found in gold and light orange varieties.
In early spring, it produces lots of medium-sized, sky blue blossoms with kidney-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a strong scent that smells like coconut.
In early winter it produces , cuboid fruit. The sticky olive skin is tough and sweet and sour, and the soft washed-out red flesh is spicy and sour and very juicy. The dark brown seed is tiny and is in the centre of the fruit.
The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
