Clinging Pinevine

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 133 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of slender, wavy stems covered in rough, pine-coloured bark, and the wood inside is dark brown.

The branches trail down towards the ground with thousands of twigs that and are covered with handfuls of small, pleated, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are drab green with light grey tips, resilient and soft.

It produces large amounts of giant, bronze flowers with 5 kidney-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have an overpowering scent that smells like rotten meat. In early summer it forms medium-sizedbeige, spiky-shelled seeds.
