Copperbloom

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This small fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 66 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, twisting trunk covered in paper-thin, smooth, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the soft wood is copper-coloured.

The sparse amount of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with small bunches of large, 2 pointed leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are ashy yellow and aquamarine.

In early spring, it produces lots of medium-sized, copper blossoms with 9 heart-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like leather.

In early summer it produces tiny, needle-like fruit. The fuzzy drab blue skin is thick and spicy and salty, and the soft purple flesh is savoury and syrupy. The vivid green seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

All parts of the moss are edible.
It is very delicate and is easy to kill.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
