Climbing Lilac Heartvine

This massive flower grows up to 10.8 feet (3.3 meters) tall. Its beige and grey stems grow from the base of the plant in bunches of 4 and are very thin and straight, and split into dozens of branching stems at the top, and the giant, lilac leaves are thin with wavy edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

Each stem splits 6 to 10 times; a single small flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 81 cm (31.9 inches) wide, with petals that are either cyan or turquoise, with a yellow center. The flower head is shaped like a heart made up of 13 tightly layered, narrow petals. They detach easily.

It has a soft scent that smells like onion, and it has a modest amount of pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator, but is also visited by a small species of bird.
