Blue Spine Succulent

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This big caudiciform grows up to 88 feet (26.8 meters) tall. The asymmetrical stem is sky blue or red, and is covered in dozens of fine, beige, hair-like spines. It has a straight, thin, cream trunk atop a flat web of cracked, exposed roots. The branches are flat and amber and are short and thin.

The smooth-edged, cylindrical leaves are olive on the sides and intense purple at the center. They are sturdy, and take some effort to detach.

It is steady-growing, taking 4 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with alternating petals of silver and beige, with a copper central disk grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 60 petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like chocolate.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the crimson flesh is slimy, and the bronze sap is thin and has hallucinogenic properties.

It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
