Bloodfire Succulent

This short leaf succulent grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall. The tapering stem is brown, and is covered in thick bunches of flexible blood red spines. The slender leaves are azure and aquamarine. Handfuls of them grow on slender, yellow-green branches that trail down to the ground. The leaves are rigid, and are very difficult to pull away.

It is steady-growing, taking 7 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a single flower with solid pink petals decorated with yellow dots and a blue central disk grows at the top, reappearing after 10 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a tube with 38 tightly layered, round-tipped petals. It has an overpowering scent that smells like mango.

The leaf succulent's skin is thick, the cream flesh is rubbery, and the gentle orange sap is thin.
