Crimson Vine

This big flower grows up to 6.3 feet (1.9 meters) tall. Its emerald stems grow in bunches of 3 and are thick and straight, and the huge, green leaves are very thin with irregular edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

4 to 8 medium-sized flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 33 cm (13.0 inches) wide, with petals that are dark green on the underside and crimson on the top. The flower head is made up of 25 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight sphere. They are very delicate.

It has no scent, and it has an average amount of pollen. It is a self-pollinator, but is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.
