Coniapple Tree

This big fruit tree grows up to 33 feet (10.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 55 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in silky, yellow bark, and inside, the hard wood is pale yellow.

The branches are long and slender and are covered with large amounts of small, thick leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of emerald that gradient shifts to silver at the top.

In early spring, it produces balls of medium-sized, drab orange blossoms with stiff, pointed petals. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like onion.

In early autumn it produces tiny, stiff, pointed fruit. The crispy cream skin is tough and inedible, and the very soft blood red flesh is spicy and sticky. The bronze seed is small and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
