Aquamaroon Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 26 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, crooked trunk covered in thick, ridged, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is mahogany-coloured.

The sparse amount of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with thick bunches of giant, long, narrow leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either azure, or brown with pale purple splotches.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of medium-sized, sky blue blossoms with sickle shaped petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have an intense scent that smells like pepper.

In mid-autumn it produces small, oblong fruit. The waxy faded blue skin is stretchy and edible when boiled; it is bitter, and the crunchy brown flesh is sweet and sticky. The black seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
