Azure Spine Cactus

This short cactus grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall. The thick stem is lime green, and is covered in large amounts of flexible azure spines.

It is slow growing, taking 17 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with alternating petals of violet and hazel, with a sky blue central disk grow at the top, reappearing after 7 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 30 petals. It has a scent that varies in strength that smells like a damp log.

The cactus's skin is nearly impenetrable, the slate flesh is waxy, and the azure sap is thin and has hallucinogenic properties.
