Cubeflower

This small caudiciform grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall. The finger-like stem is brown, and is covered in copious amounts of flexible gentle orange spines. The stocky, olive trunk can grow to as much as 12 feet (3.7 meters) in diameter. Its gray-green branches trail down to the ground.

The smooth-edged, asymmetrical leaves are indigo and sky blue. They are delicate, but detach easily.

It is slow growing, taking 35 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with solid peach petals decorated with brown dots and a peach central disk, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a cube with 23 tightly layered, round-tipped petals. It has a mildly strong scent that smells like new carpet.

The caudiciform's skin is thick, the vivid red flesh is rubbery, and the aquamarine sap is thin.
