Coniarafern

Shrub type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 57 years. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has dozens of very thick, curved stems covered in fine, cracked, brown bark, and the wood inside is pale brown.

The branches are short and slender with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with small amounts of tiny, broad, flat, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are solid pink or vibrant purple, with slate edges, tough and waxy.

In mid-spring it produces dozens of medium-sized, muted yellow blossoms with circular petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like old shoes.

In early winter tiny arrow-shaped fruits ripen. The crispy green skin is delicate and inedible, and the crunchy orange flesh is overwhelmingly sweet and oily. The olive seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.

It can grow in even the most barren lands.
