Clinging Sunflower

This small flower grows up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. Its orange-yellow stems grow in bunches of 4 and are very thick and straight, and the huge, silver leaves are pleated with serrated edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

Lots of medium-sized flowers grow along the length of the stem. The flowers are 1 cm (0.4 inches) wide, with petals that are red on the underside and caramel on the top. The flower head is made up of 51 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight dish. They are very delicate.

It has a scent that varies in strength that smells like a newborn baby, and it has very little pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator.
