Slate Spine Cactus
Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)This small cactus grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall. It splits near the top to form 6 spear shaped stems. Each stem is moss green, and is covered in hundreds of rigid slate spines.
It is steady-growing, taking 13 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with alternating petals of sky blue and green, with a yellow central disk, grow at the top, reappearing once every 3 years. The flower head is largely flat with several widely spaced narrow petals. It has a soft scent that smells like misty mornings.
The cactus's skin is thin, the grey flesh is waxy, and the hazel sap is thin and causes severe cramps if consumed.
It is bio-luminescent.
