Clinging Amberfruit

This small fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 37 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a stocky, angular trunk covered in fine, cracked, yellow bark, and inside, the soft wood is silver.

The branches are very short and slender and are covered with small bunches of large, slender, pointed leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are pink on the edges and yellow at the center.

In early spring, it produces thousands of medium-sized, amber blossoms with long, narrow petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have an intensely strong scent that smells like honeysuckle.

In mid-autumn it produces , oblong fruit. The crispy grey skin is delicate and spicy, and the slightly crunchy blue flesh is salty and very dry. The hazel seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.
