Copperleaf

Shrub type: Deciduous (Sheds its leaves in winter)

This giant shrub grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 199 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many wide, straight stems covered in rough, yellow bark, and the wood inside is mahogany-coloured.

The branches are short, rigid and upright that and are covered with small bunches of tiny, very thick, leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are solid copper or muted purple, with lime splotches, tough and waxy.

In early summer it produces a handful of giant, purple flowers with long, tapering petals. They are sturdy and have a strong scent that smells like lemon.

It is suitable for making paper
every part of the shrub is extremely toxic.
It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
