Burgundy Teardrop Moss

This burgundy moss is commonly found growing in large clumps In rainforests, and On rotten logs.
It is small, growing up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches, and is slightly tough.
When mature, emerald teardrop-shaped capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-summer to release millions of spores; it can cause allergic reactions.
