Blue Spine Cactus
Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)This small cactus grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall. The wispy stem is sky blue, and is covered in lots of flexible caramel spines. The cuboid body is red, and is covered in sharp spines.
It is slow growing, taking 34 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with alternating petals of cream and pink, with a brown central disk grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a trumpet made up of handfuls of widely spaced, narrow petals. It has an intense scent that smells like roses.
The cactus's skin is thin, the sky blue flesh is rough, and the lilac sap is thin.
It is said to be able to live for hundreds of years.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
