Crimson Skyfruit

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 20 feet (6.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 56 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, curved trunk covered in delicate, rough, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the hard wood is pale yellow.

The sparse amount of branches are very long and slender and are covered with small amounts of huge, broad, flat leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are sky blue and crimson.

In early spring, it produces many giant, pale orange blossoms with fan-like petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like rotting meat.

In early autumn it produces very large, long, curved fruit. The clammy hazel skin is peel-able and inedible, and the crunchy sky blue flesh is sweet and very juicy. The red seed is small and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.
