Emberspike

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This large cactus grows up to 80 feet (24.4 meters) tall. The spear shaped stem is emerald, and is covered in lots of fine, slate, hair-like spines.

It is steady-growing, taking 3 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with solid black petals decorated with crimson dots and a silver central disk grows at the top, reappearing once every 5 years. The flower head is shaped like a dish with 28 widely spaced, narrow petals. It has a powerful scent that smells like freshly washed clothes.

The cactus's skin is thin, the slate flesh is rough, and the slate sap is thin.

It comes in 13 varieties, each with a different leaf colour.
It is suitable for making strong rope
All parts of the shrub are edible.
It is almost impossible to grow indoors.
