Caramel Spikevine

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small caudiciform grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall. The thin stem is silver and yellow, and is covered in dozens of fine, caramel, hair-like spines. It has a crooked, wide, bronze trunk atop a stocky tripod of waxy, exposed roots. The branches are very thick and copper and are short stubs.

The smooth-edged, 6 pointed leaves are cream on the edges and beige at the center. They are flimsy, but are very difficult to pull away.

It is slow growing, taking 6 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with petals that are sky blue in the center, crimson in the middle and hazel at the edges grow at the top, reappearing once every 5 years. The flower head is made up of dozens of petals in raised layers. It has a delicate scent that smells like rotting meat.

The caudiciform's skin is rock-hard, the caramel flesh is leathery, and the beige sap is thin and can cause blindness if consumed.

The trunk and branches are covered in large spikes.
