Copperleaf

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 134 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has numerous slender, angular stems covered in thick, wrinkled, light gray bark, and the wood inside is copper-coloured.

The branches are short and slender that and are covered with small amounts of huge, long, tapering, leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are found in hazel and pale purple varieties, flimsy and waxy.

In mid-spring it produces a handful of medium-sized, amber flowers with 7 kidney-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have no scent.
