Copper Spine Succulent
Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)This small leaf succulent grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall. The slender, pointed stem is copper, and is covered in large amounts of fine, intense green, hair-like spines. The lumpy leaves are yellow on the sides and lilac at the center. Large amounts of them grow on wide, green branches that trail down across the ground. The leaves are rigid, but are very difficult to pull away.
It is very slow growing, taking 8 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with petals that are beige in the center, silver in the middle and amber at the edges, grow at the top, reappearing once every 5 years. The flower head is made up of 52 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight cup. It has a strong scent that smells like citrus.
The leaf succulent's skin is nearly impenetrable, the bronze flesh is soft, and the sky blue sap is thin and causes vomiting if consumed.
It is said to be able to live for hundreds of years.
