Copperstem Blueflower

This modest-sized flower grows up to 10 inches (25 cm) tall. Its copper stem is very thin and splits into several branching stems at the base, and the tiny, yellow-green leaves are broad, flat with rounded edges. The leaves grow from the base and are the same length as the stem.

2 to 4 small flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 16 cm (6.3 inches) wide, with solid dark brown petals and a brilliant blue central disk. The flower head is largely flat with dozens of widely spaced round-tipped petals. They fall easily.

It has a soft scent that smells like fresh linen, and it has very little pollen, but can cause allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator.
