Clingvine Fruit Tree

This massive fruit tree grows up to 75 feet (22.9 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 28 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, wonky trunk covered in hard, wrinkled, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the flexible wood is white with black speckles.

The abundance of branches are very short and slender and are covered with very large amounts of miniature, perforated leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of emerald that gradient shifts to magenta at the top.

In early spring, it produces thousands of medium-sized, lime blossoms with broad, flat petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a faint scent that smells like old shoes.

In early winter it produces tiny, hourglass-shaped fruit. The soft drab purple skin is stretchy and inedible, and the soft violet flesh is sweet and sour and sticky. The black seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
