Violet Vineflower

Flower type: Perennial (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This modest-sized flower grows up to 10 inches (25 cm) tall. Its silver stem is thin and splits into dozens of branching stems halfway up, and the large, lime green leaves are dark brown on the underside and are circular with ripped edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

A single small flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 36 cm (14.2 inches) wide, with solid violet petals decorated with drab yellow lines and a green central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 60 petals. They are very delicate.

It has a weak scent that smells like coconut, and it has very little pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also particularly attractive to butterflies.

The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
