Coral Cactus

This modest-sized caudiciform grows up to 14 feet (4.3 meters) tall. The thin stem is green, and is dotted with small light yellow spines. The thick, intense red trunk can grow to as much as 14 feet (4.3 meters) in diameter. Its moss green branches trail down across the ground.

The jagged-edged, very thin leaves are azure and indigo. They are tough, but easily come away when pulled.

It is very fast growing, taking 8 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with petals that are copper in the center, grey in the middle and caramel at the edges, grow at the top, reappearing once every 4 years. The flower head is shaped like a trumpet made up of 17 raised, narrow petals. It has a fairly strong scent that smells like new books.

The caudiciform's skin is thick, the cyan flesh is soft, and the magenta sap is thin.
