Emerald Spine Cactus

This small cactus grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall. It splits near the top to form 3 tapering stems. Each stem is emerald, and is covered in lots of rigid bronze spines.

It is very slow growing, taking 15 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a single flower with solid purple petals decorated with azure lines and a blood red central disk grows at the top, reappearing after 7 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a bowl with 4 tightly layered, narrow petals. It has a faint scent that smells like rotten meat.

The cactus's skin is thin, the purple flesh is smooth, and the purple sap is thin and can kill if consumed.
