Mahogany Peach Tree

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 17 feet (5.2 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 54 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, slanted trunk covered in delicate, rough, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the light wood is silver.

The abundance of branches are short and slender and are covered with thick bunches of giant, very thick leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are peach on the sides and orange at the center.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of small, light brown blossoms with V-shaped petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are very delicate and have a delicate scent that smells like rotten meat.

In early winter it produces small, 8-shaped fruit. The rough red skin is thick and inedible, and the crunchy peach flesh is sweet and very juicy. The bronze seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
