This copper moss is commonly found blanketing medium-sized areas In damp forests, In heathlands, and In rainforests.
It is short, growing up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches and they overwhelm an area rapidly, and is overwhelmingly flimsy.
When mature, emerald shield-shaped capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-autumn to release thousands of spores; it can cause allergic reactions.

It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
